Kate Baldwin, Program Manager
kate@ruralroots.org

Kate joined Rural Roots as a program manager in July 2007. She replaces Sara Foster in overseeing membership, marketing and educational programming.

The Michigan native brings her experience as: a reporter at the Moscow-Pullman Daily News, a media relations assistant with Lansing Community College, and a neighborhood resource coordinator with a non-profit coalition.

Baldwin attended Michigan State University for her undergraduate degree in journalism. She also focused her studies on physical anthropology, French, and urban planning.

“I believe that people want to support healthy systems but they don’t know where to start,” she said.

Baldwin believes that sharing the dynamic stories of our members will resonate within the hearts and minds of the public and prompt unexpected, and possibly exponential, results.

“The actions, choices, and lifestyles of our farmers and ranchers are a testament to better systems,” Baldwin said. “I can’t wait to get started. It is going to mean meeting and greeting a lot of people but I am ready and excited.”

Baldwin now lives just outside of Moscow at a beautiful 100-acre homestead on Paradise Ridge. When she isn't tending to the chickens, she works as a freelance writer for regional magazines and periodicals. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking elaborate meals, rock climbing, volunteering, and ballroom dancing.
