WSU Organic Farm Field Tour
Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005
Located at the Tukey Horticultural Orchard
WSU Campus, Pullman, WA

On this tour, we went to the WSU organic teaching farm at the Tuckey Orchard. We had samples of fresh organic food from the farm. Yum! The tomatoes and carrots were delectable, as well as the freshly made cilantro pesto and other goodies. It was great to see how the farm has developed over the last couple of years. If you'd like to learn more about the teaching farm, contact Brad Jaeckel

Orchard Farm

Thursday, July 29, 2004
Moscow, ID

On this tour, we met Kate and Brad Jaeckel, owners of Orchard Farm in Moscow, and we each brought home a half CSA share of local and sustainable farm fresh produce!

Orchard Farm offers natural and no-spray vegetables, eggs, flowers (cut and dried), goat kids, goat milk soap, and culinary and medicinal herbs. Purchase on-farm, at the Moscow Food Co-op's Tuesday Growers' Market, or the Moscow Farmers' Market. Kate and Brad's goal is to build healthy soil fertility with green manure, composted animal manure, mulch and crop rotations.

Farm Tour at
Ronniger’s Potato Farm

Saturday, July 3, 2004
Moyie Springs, ID

We really enjoyed our tour of this small, family-operated organic seed potato and vegetable farm in Northeastern Idaho.  We saw their farming operations as well as their famous Haflinger Horses.

David, Caryl, and the rest of the Ronniger family take great pride in the fact that their produce is Certified Organic. They believe that organic farming is not just a technique, but a way of life. They practice crop rotation, composting, and organic mineral supplementation in order to maintain a healthy balance within the natural system.
