Melissa Radloff

Melissa has an extensive carrier in the nonprofit sector. She began in outdoor education and wilderness therapy, working in programs in Alaska, Indiana, northern and southern California, Colorado and Nevada.  During this time she co-founded a therapeutic horseback riding program which is still thriving today.  When it was time to settle down she moved to Boise, Idaho and began working for the Arc Inc. Here she created a volunteer based recreation and travel program for people with disabilities, serving adults and teens throughout southern Idaho.
In 2005, her family moved to northern Idaho to try their hand at country living.  Melissa became a full time mother and began learning many lessons related to homesteading… how to catch a pig, construct a snowplow, kill a chicken, and so much more!  In 2008 she began working for the University of Idaho with the Cultivating SuccessTM program.

Melissa earned a BA in Recreation Administration from Humboldt State University in 1986 and a Masters in Therapeutic Recreation from the University of Northern Colorado in 1990. She enjoys traveling, and has made two extended trips to Asia, in addition to many wilderness adventures in the western US.  She and her 4 year old son, Finnegan, partner, Daniel, and their dogs, chickens and horse still enjoy the country life, and are passionate about participating in local economies and effecting change one step at a time.
